WELLINGTON, April 7 A new departure in the system of handling of cargo on the waterfront. occurred with the discharge of the inter-colonial vessel Wairata, when th« Wellington Waterside Workers' Unioti acted as ag^nts and took full respon sibility for stevedoring on the shit). The union 's oftieials contracted for the job and fully supervised the discharge of the cargo. The seeretary of the union, Mr. E. A. Napier, said today that the job was finished in 20 working days (countirig two Saturday half days as one working day) instead of the estirnated time oi about six weeks. The cargo of aboiH 6200 tons of scrap steel from the Pacifie, was a most difficult one to handle.
