Dl'JN IU 1 J 1 N, April y. Details of tho oratory contest open to all post-primary schools in New Zcaland, were annnnneed by the geiiTal seeretary of the Overseas League. Mr. .T. K. MHne.r, when speaking at a meeting of the Dunedin braneh of the league tonight. Tlie subje.e.t ehosen for 1949 is "Empire TTnity" and area eompetitions in the four main eentres will be held in •Tulv to select not fewer ..than eight. fmalists who will eompete in Christchurch towards the end of the middle term: ' More than 250 sehools afe eligible to take part. Eaeh school is entitled to enter one candidate The first prize is a return trip to Australia with a fortnight's holidav there as the guest of the Ov.erseas League. There are also second and third prizes of one week's sliooting or slci-ing to be arranged during -the September holidays.
