Ratepayers' Association Replies

(To the Editor) Sir,— In u-eply to your correspondent, "Ratepayer," of April 2, l would say that the committee of he the Levin Ratepayers' Association states that had there not beeh. a ratepayers' association in existence, the probabililies Would have been that no candidates would have been offering at the municipal by-election. Prior to the last elections difficulty was experienced in . finding candidates to afccept the r*esponsibi'ities of office. : Our dbject Was to "avoid complacency by creating interest in eivic affairs. Probably your corfespohdent, as mentioned in his letter, • was tdo busy making a succbss of his own walk of life While his less fortunate members of the ratepayers' association were fuliy co'nscious of their responsibility to others. We suggest he join the association, thus making ' himself ■aware of our strength, both fiumerically and in wisdom. Regarding capabilities, the eleetors are the best judge of this point and also as to who are the most sincere — those who help and give guidance to cthers or those who shelter behind a nom-de-plume. Yours, etc.,
Levin, April 6.
