Fruit Brings Good Prices
Messrs Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that stone fruits continue to decline in supply and consequently Golden Queen and Gol'den Eagle peaches are bringing attractive prices. Early sub-tropical fruits are still in short supply and all classes are bringing fancy prices and are keenly sought. Poultry is in good supply, with prices inclined to ease. Quotations are: — Fruit: Tree tomatoes, 18s to 22s; Ohinese gooseberries, 30s to 37s; passion fruit, 10s to 13s 6d; tomatoes, coloured, 6s 6d to 9s; ripe, 7s to 8s; round, 7s to 9s; Meyer, lemons, 18s to 24s half ■ case; quinceg, 7s to 9s bushel v case; peaches, 10s to 13s; cape gooseberries, 8s 6d to 9s per 9-pound box; grapes, best, 2s 6d t o2s 8d; others, ls to Is 4d per pound. Vegetables: Beans, butter, 8dv to lOd; runners, 8d to lOd; stringless, 8d to ls. 3d;*peas, 8d to lOd per pound; beetroot, 4s to 6s; cucumbers, 8s to 12s; lettuce, 12s to. 16s; leeks, 15s to 20s; marrows, 3s to 5s; rhubarb, ,3s to 8s;. silverbeet, 2s to 5s; spinach, 20s to 24S; sprouts, 30s to 40s; white turnips, 3s to 5s per case; sweet corn, 10s to 14s bushel case; carrots, 5s to 8s sugar bag; kumeras, 4s to 6s bag; onions, 15s; parsnips, 14s to 16s; swedes, 6s to 8s; potatoes, 16s ot 17s all ewt.; cauliflowers, Ohakune, best, 20s to 30s; others, 10s to 20s; pumpkins, 6s to 9s per sack; mint, 4d to 6d; Parsley, 2-d to 6d; radish, 2d to 6d; Chinese cabbage, 6d to ls bunch; cabbage, 8s to 12s sack.
