OTAKI CLUB BEGINS ITS NEW SEASON.
The opening of the Otaki Golf Ciub's 1949 season took place on Saturday under peTfect weather conditions. There .was a large attendance of members and friends, ■vith visitors from the Levin and Buckley Clubs. The afterneon commenced wi'b mixed foursomes played over 14 holes, the winners being Mrs. Richards (Levin) and Z. Gray, with Mrs. Lea and E. Gray in second place. In declaring the season open, the president, Mr. W. Jepson, thanked all those present for- their attendance and congratu'ated the committee upon the splendid order of the course. The course- is now back at the pre-war 14 holes, and "Waitohu" and "Tipperary" were played on Saturday for the first time since
the early days of the war. Thei>e ; two holes add greatly to the variety : of the course, and received much 'favourable comment from players. An interesting programme has I been arranged for the season, in- . clu'ding inter-club matches with : the Levin, Buckley, Awatapu and ; Bo^cott C^bs. Saturday after- • noon competitions will commence next Saturday with a medal round.
