Athletic Club's Sound Finances
A committee • meeting of the • Shannon Amateur Athletic anti Cycling Club was held. on Wednesr . day evening to wind up the season's ! activities. The president, Mr. W, L. Oarter, reported on the success of ithe 1 club's first open meeting, held on March 12, and the report; of the secretary, Mr. G. S. Beer,'. showed that a nett profit of a little over £40 had been made on the day.' it was stated that this very satisfactory result was largely due to the generqus support of the public and thte business people of Shannon, and several meimtoers of the committee spoke in appreciation of it. It was also stated that after the accounts for the season had been finalised, the club would have a credit balance in excess of £100. This excellent financial position is largely due to the splendid support accorded the club's evening sports meetings, and it is very gratifying to members of the committee, who have worked so hard and with enthusiasm throughout the -season, The committee has a progressive programme for next season and foremost among its projects is the resealing of the cycle track. The ■following committee was set up to go ahead with the preparations for this work: — Messrs. W. L. Oarter, G. S. Beer, D. Richards, L. Coulter, A. H. Richards, N. Batt, J. Moore and D. Cole. It is understood that certain reconstruction work will be carried out on the hottom behd of the track before the. tar sealing job is commenced. The committee decided to make a donation of £5 to the St. John AmbUlance Association for the excellent assistance given the club during the season.
