Anglican Church Activity

• ^ ■ The activities of the Shannon Ven Bede's Anglican Church were "hutlined in the recent report issued by the vicar, Rev. M. J. S. Wheeler. He stated that great work had been d'one in and around the church by voluntary labour since it had been re-erected on the new site. The church has been painted and the roof and walls improved beyond recognition by this • astounding effort on behalf of the vestry and other very able and much appreciated assistance from Messrs. E. Chester, Senr., S. Chester and W. Robertson. Mr. Wheeler pointed out that this year harvest festival would be held throughout the parish on Sunday, May 1. He stated that May seemed late for harvest festival, but this was brought about by a late Easter. It had been decided to send a percentage of the harvest offerings to England in the form of food parcels. Regarding the local Sunday school, Mr. Wheeler reported that this department was grateful to have the -able assistance of a new teacher in the person of Mrs. D. Patrick. With past experience ■ of teaching, Mr. Wheeler felt sure that Mrs. Patrick would prove a great asset to the Shannon Sunday School. Notice was given that the annual meeting of parishioners would be held in the Parish Hall on Thursday, April 7, and that the next meeting of the Ladies' Guild was to be ' held on Wednesday, April 6, cbmmencing at 2.30 p.m. With regard to the Lenten missionary envelopes, Mr. Wheeler asked that these be sent to Mr. C. M. Cronquest, of the local vestry, not later. than Good Friday, or they could be brought to church on that day and placed in the plate for an offering. In conclusion both Mr, and Mrs. Wheeler _ joined in wishing parishioners a joyous and blessed Easteh
