Jim Granger's Departure A Blow To Sport
The departure from Levin of Jim Granger, who has been transferred on promotion to a position in Blenheim, will be a blow to sport in the Horowhenua district. Rugby football and the Athletic Club in particular ydll be heavy losers. He captained the Athletic seniors which performed so meritoriously last year and in his two seasons in the district has had -no trouble in gaining rep. honours. Jim learnt his rugby in the hard school of experience and his play always reflected the- knowledge he had gained. Those who saw the Nash 'Cup final last season, when Athletic went down to Wanderers by 11 points to 13, will recall his masterful leadership at the eleventh hour in trying to pull the 1 game out of the fire for Athletic. It was probably one of His best displays of the season. In the cricket world, as player and- administrator, Jim always pulled his weight and set a fine example to younger players. • Sport for the sport of it is his ideal. "Good sport, Jim, and Good Luck," will be the wish of his' many local friends. •
