of the prefabricated type, with windows down tq the fioor, giving warmth, gqod lighting and plenty of sunshine. He did not think the committee could persuade the board to erect classrooms of a per- , manent nature on the site proposed for the new school, though it might agree tq placing the prefabricated ones there. However, " he did not want to see the work delayed on this account. ■ Projgosal Under Way 8 Mr. Todd told the meeting that Mr. D. K. Guy, the Horowhenua distriet's member on the board, had informed him that the proposal to erect temporary rooms in th'e present school -was already under way and that if a suggestion to change the site was put forward at 'this juncture it would certainly mean delay. i The classes would go on increas'ing, said Mr. Whiteman, and he felt the committee should endeavour tq have the temporary rooms j built on the new site. I The ehair'man, Mr. A. C. Kennerley, pqinted out that if th.e comniittee endea.vqured to get the rooms erected qn land which had no yet been purchased, relief in the accommodation position would not be obtained1 this winter.. M1*- Todd: You won't get tnem inside 12 months.* Mr. McClune: We don't want any delay. The new rooms will be filled immed.iat.ely they are erected. . When the board erected. a new school it would want a modern building, said Mr. Todd. If temporary rooms were built on the proposed site for the new school they would be useless when the >time came to proceed with the major project. The negotiations for the land had not yet reached the purchase stage and corisefcuently a long delay would! ensue if it was decided1 tq request the ihoardi toj erect the rooms on the | proposed' new site In reply to a question by Mr. H. Bull, the. hea.dma.ster said that the two new rooms would accommodate some of the infants and lower standard one. The discussion. was not pursued further, the committee deciding to urge the board to prqceed as quickly as possible with the erecI tion of the rooms in the present school grounds.
