Evans Bay Alighting Area For Flying-boats

WELLINGTON, Mareh 23. Evan's Bay has been designated the alternative alighting area to the Tasman flyingboat, base at "Mechanic's Bay, Auckland. Advice of this was received by the Wellington Harbour Board at its meeting tonight. With the designation of Evan's Bay as an' alighting area the Air Department will establish there mooring, night -flyiiig, launch, Customs and health faeilities. The general manager of the Board (Mr. M. P. Congdon) in his report said the area refer.red to was now known as the Evan's Bay s.eaplane alighting area. The change in designation had been }announced by the Direetor of Civil Aviation. In addition the area would be usecl from time to time by Nation?.! Airways Coropration aireraft operating to Chatham Islands, Mr. Congdon added.
