Te Horo Plunket Committee's Meeting

A meeting of the committee of the Te Horo Plunket Society was held in the Plunket rooms recently, Mrs. E. Jensen presi'ding. Referring to the Press report of the Horowhenua County . Council's discussion of tar sealing in front of 'the rooms, it was pointed out by Mrs. Faith that four years ago she had written to the Main Highways Board and the council in this connection. A letter had been received from the board stating that it was willing to subsidise a footpath if the council consented to carry out the jvork. The letter had been f orwarded to the council and a reply had been received stating that it was "willing to carry out the work and that it would be done in the near future. Council employees had started on the work with the metal fllling," and it was hoped that it would be completed almost immediately, but the council now seemed to be unaware that a promise was given to carry out the work. Several of the members had approached Mr. R. W. Jenkins, one of the council members, who was sympathetic to their requests, but still no work had been done. . It is hoped that a member of the committee will shortly call upon Mr. F. H. Hudson, county clerk, when next in Levin.

Arrangements were made for the. annual meeting to be held on April! 21. Copies of the report and bal-i ance sheet were placed before the committee. « ! Arrangements were also made to. have Mrs. Whittick speak on the •formation of a Mothers' Club, and it is hoped that there will be al large attendance of mothers at this meeting. ^ A letter is to be sent to Miss Potter, wishing her a speedy recovery from her illness. Regret was

expressed that m une meauuuw ^ was unfortunate that no nurse was available. Comment was made on thesmall number of ■ pre-school children attending the rooms and an effort is to be made to urge mothers to continue to visit the rooms at six monthly intervals until school age.-
