Family Narrowly Escapes From Burning House
' NELSON, Narcli 21. A woman and three children escaped from a learning house at Ranzau, 1 1 miies from Nelson, in their night attire at 4 o'clock 011 Maturday morning Their bome was completely destroyed and they lost all their possessions. The woman, Mrs. C. W. J. Bovd, was awakened by a smell of burning and when she went into the hall to investi gate s'aiv a glow under the sitting room door wliich was opposite lier owu room at the front of the hoir.e. Slu | opened the door and was "driven back by a sheet of flame. She returned tp lier bedroom where her 1 1-year-oM daugliter was also sleeping and they
both escaped through. the bedroom window. Mrs. Boyd aroused her two sons, aged 13 and 9, who were sleeping in a room at the back of the house ancl then ran to the nearest neighbour 's about 100 yards away and gave the alarm.
