CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. While he was working in a disused well on his f ather '& f axm at Amberley today an 18-year-old farmhand, Eric Charles James, slipped and d'ell. Shingle and puggy soil caved in on him and when his body was recovered some two hours later he was dead. The youth was. removing bricks from the well which was 30 feet deep while his father (Mr. E. W. James) was working the windless on top. Mr. James rushed for help when the wall caved in and the rescuers dug frantically for two hours.
