Some Criticism Of Berlin Currency Change

- LONDON, March 21. A special edition of the Berlin British-licensed newspaper Der Tete grapf eriticised the establishment of the west mark as the only legal cur rency in the Western sectors of Berlin. The newspaper declared that not only proliteers and blackmarketeers had been hit, but also tradesmen, employees and workers. "Berliners have been the step-children of every currency re form so far. Let us hope this is the last one we will have to go through." Reuter 's Berlin correspondent reported that Western Berliners are complaining because no arrangement has been made for them to eonvert their banked holdings of Eastern marks into Western currency. German industrial quarters predicted increased unemployment owing to factories closing down through the inevitable rise in uncontrolled prices. The Times says:: "The currency change undoubtedly hardens the division of Berlin and will probably throv a heavier burden on the airlift."
