The president, Mrs. J. A. Easton, presided1 over a good attendance of members at the Red Cross meet,ing in'Laurvig's Hall on Thursday .afternoon, Reports on the distribution of Christmas cheer were given by Mesdames Easton, Campbell and Bovis; while many letters and messages of appreciation were received. An appeal from; Cprso for assjstance in raising mu6h need'e'd finance to carry on its work was considered, and it was agreed to advise that the pjresent time- wa^s inopportune, owing to the carnival In progress, but the cbmmittee would give sympathetic considera-
