Perfect weather, cpnditions and excellent gre'en^/made tlie Shannon Women's Bowlirig and Croquef Clubs' - gala day ?on : the greens last Tuesday ; ari biitstanding1 sii^eesS. With over 50 players preserit1 and the high standard of play;xin''hoth the bowling' aird' eroquet 'sedtions, the afterhoon pfoved'an attraetion for many onlobkers." • : . ' Delightful mornirig and- a-fternooh teas were ddnated by club members, and visitors were provided with all amenities for enjoying their own1 lunches in the cliibhouse. Thanks were extended to Mesdames Sell and Quinlan for their kind assistance in serving the afternoon tea. The gala day was arrahged by the two clubs as their contribution towards the Shannon and District's War Memorial . Hall €arnival,; and ihe Town Queen Committee will benefit greatly from, the efforts of this- enterprising band of ladies. The various competitions and games were entered into with enthusiasm 5nd the f ollowing ai'e the ^esults:— Three^quarter hbur croquet: Mesdames C. ^ Bryant and Walls (Foxtoh) ; ''Hurry-iSdurry": Mesdames' ' New'th and " vMartih (•Foxton):, Points • prizes in the • ; f ollowihg. se'ctions • were ; won by: Mrs. Newth, , "Climbing ihe ; Chimney" ;and " "Nov^elty Putting"; Mrs: H. Bryant (Otaki), "To and. Fro' Hoops" and "Mince Pie"; Mrs, M. Parr (Shannon) , "Christmas Tree."
"Laader" and "Hoop ' Target." Combined competitions were won by Mrs. Moran (Palmerston North) , Mrs. ' Rolfe (Levin) and Mrs. Edwards (Foxton). In the bowling section some nine rinks were on the green and the following are the clubs represent-; ed, together with the skips of "the rinks:— Takaro (Mrs. Grahani), Manawatu (Mesdames Brace and Batchelor) , Levin (Mesdames Mc^ Kinstry and Gardiner),' Foxton (Mrs, Edlin) and Shannon (Mesdames D.
