Breakdown At Power Station Brings Blackout
• The Otaki-Shannon and Toko-maru-Foxton areas were plunged into complete ^ darkness at 7.45 p.m. "last night, when equipment at the State Hydro-Electrie Station at •Mangahao failed. • The cause of the failure was. a breakdown in a voltage regulatOr. |An investigation will have to be made before the extent of the damage is known. The whole of the northern area was affected and the power was off for a* full half-hour. Eventually, electricity Was switehed into the second of the two feeder lines from the power station, which is now carryjing a slightly lower voltage than iusual. In an effort to lessen the load, the southern feeder circuit has been extended from Paraparaumu toMarmkajn^^^^
