New Power Rationing Scheme Operating Well
It was obvious that the rationing of electricity was having the,,desired effect and that generally the consumers were cooperating, remarked the chairman of the Horowhenua Electrie Power Board, Mr. T. G. Vincent, whhn commenting on a report by the managing-secretary, .Mr* R. A. •Frederikson, at a meeting yesterday. "Quotas have been delivered to all consumers south of Levin, and a start made with the northern area," said Mr, Frederikson in his report when referring to .the individual system of power rationing. "The southern portion comprises 3675 accounts, and to date, 432 appeals have been received. So far as the appeals are concerned, they can be . divided into three elasses, (a) Consumers seeking information; an-d at the same time protecting themselves should they exceed the current quota, (b) Consumers who have a genuine need for an increased quota on account of altered eircumstances, (c) Consumers who have no grounds for appeal, but consider they should give it a go." A comparative weekly unit purchase table prepared by Mr. Frederikson showed that the excess percentage of units . consume'd above the board's quota had dropped from 5.3 per cent. on. February 6, to one per cent. on March 6 and .54 per cent. on March 13.
