No Volcanic Activity On Tongariro

RAETIHI, March 16. There is no sign that the extinct voicano of Tongariro has reopened. Inquiries throughout the National Park area today gave no confirination of the report from Taupo that Tongar riro was active. It is helieved that ohservers from Taupo must have oonfused volcanic activity with the activity from the Ketetahi hlowhole on the north slope of the mountain which at all times emits a fair volume of steam. Mount Ngauruhoe erupted violently on three occasions yesterday after some days of quiescence and it has been noted over the last month that eruptions of Ngauruhoe " are acoonipanied in increased activity at Ketetahi. Today Ngauruhoe was reported from the Chateau to be completely dormant.
