Soviet Air Force May Be Superior To U.S.A.

NEW YORK, March 15. Mr. William Jordan, president of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation, one of America's largest aeroplane manufacturers, declared today that he would not want to he the pilot of the first United States homher to invade Russia.

Mr. Jordan, describing Russian accomplishments as a definite threat to American air supremacy, said: "We talk about our planes flying at great hcights, but the Russians have planes flying higher. We say we are producing great quantities of planes, but the Russians are producing more. ' ' ; Mr. Jordan 's statement followed a United States Air Foree claim that " Russia had no adequate defence against the American B36 homher because of its high performance at altitudes exceeding 40,000 feet.
