Argentine Deliveries Lagging Behind Contract

Copyrigfct)

Received Thursday, 11.15 a.m. LONDON, March 16. All London evening new'spapers forecast that on March 27 Britain's meat ration will be cut by 2d as a result of the Argentine meat deliveries lagging. The Food Ministry refused to confirm or deny this report. ' However, London meat traders ^ say that they would not be surprised if the ration is cut. In January the Food Minister, Mr. John Strachey, when cutting the meat ration from ls to lOd, said that the Argentine would fail by 60,000 tons to supply the 400,000 tons contracted for by the end of March. Reports from Buenos Aires show that the shipments fall short of even that figure. Argentine is now seeking an extra two months in which to complete the deliveries.
