DEADLOCK CONTINUES IN CARPENTERS' DISPUTE.
WELLINGTON, March 15. The national officiais of the New Zealand Federation of Labour again failed to reaqh an understanding today wlien the second day was spent in a discussion 6f the Federation 's proposal that it should take over the handling ot the Auckland carpenters ' dispute. Because of tlie protracted negotiations the national council of the Carpenters' Lnion "which was to havre concluded its meeting today will remain in Wellington tomorrow. The vice-president of the Federation of Labour (Mr. F. P. Walsh) said that the Federation had proposed a further . meeting with the carpenters toinorfow. [ Among those who conferrqd with the national officiais of the Federation were Mr. E. A. Aridrews, a member of the executive. of the _ Auckland Drivers' Union and waterside union officiais. A special meeting of the national exeeutivvi of the Waterside Workers' Lnion will be held on Thursday morning to discuss the action of the Waterfront Industry Authoritv in declaring the Northumberland a preference ship.
