WELLINGTON, March 15. To the e!!Oiaustive statistical tables produced in the Arbi tration Court today in the course of the hearing of the application tor a new wage pronouncement, Mr. Justice Tyndall added a little light relief. , , . , "I see," he said, "that we drink a gallon of beer for every £1 we put on with the bookmakers." ^ His Honour explained that the national consumption of beer was 24,000,000 gallons and the coinciI dence was that £24,000,000 was estimated to pass through the hands of the bookmakers.
