Better Petrol Yield From Bore At Moturoa
NEW PLYMOUTH, March 14. Production at the new oi] bore at Moturoa, New Plymouth, operateckgpby Xew Zealand Oil Refineries, Ltd., has been steadily maintained at 30 barreis a day since tlie first strike was announced on March 3, stated the managing direetor of the company, Mr. F. J. Dobson, last night. Slightly more gas pressure has been noted since the first day's production, and it is now thought that by inserting steel tu'bing, two inches in diameter, down the bore, thus confming the gas pressure to a small area, the bore may flow of its own accord without recourse to pumping. The bore is giving a better petrol yield than that obtai-ned by the company from the three oider bores in the harbour area. The older bores are returning 200 gallons of petrol per still Which represents 950 gallons of crude oil, but from the new bore 280 gallons of petrol per still are being obtained.
