How To Be Happy Though Married

Received Monday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 14. Dr. Edith Summerskill has gi-ven five hints to bridegrooms. They are:— Tell your wife what you earn, after the expenses of the family have been paid sharo equally the remainder. Never forget that for the sake of harmony a woman will nurse a grievance. Silence does not mean contentment. Ask yourself whether your wife is spending on herself what is equivalent to the cost of your beer and baccy. Meanness and selfisliness are responsible for more marriage shipwrecks than major vices. To brides she gave two rules for a happy marriage: — Pull your weight in the home and demand a fair share of the family income. Married golddiggers deserve no more respect than single ones. Dr. Summerskill, who is married with two children, was speaking "not as a politician," at a meeting of the Married Women's Association in London. She said that a recent survey showed that only about one man in tbree told his wife how mUch he earned.
