Severe Quake In New South Wales

Received Friday; 8.25 p.m. SYDNEY, March 11. The centre of an earth trefiior which was felt ih Sydney and a large area of New South Wales at 8.30 " a.m. to-day, was the townwship of Dalton, near Gunning, 171 miles from Sydney by rail. Gunning reports that the first shock lasted 18 seconds and was followed by at least 30 minor shoCks to 11.30 a.m. In Dalton buildings swayed crazlly, walls cracked, chimneys toppled, water tanks hurst and over 100 bottles of liquor in the hotel wefe smashed. The damage is estimated at £10,000. At Gunning plaster came down and houses were cracked. In Canberra minor cracks were reported and doors burst open.
