Danlei Joseph Convery, of Levin, charged with dfiving without due care and attention and of failing • to Jiave a warrant of fitness, was fined 10s on each charge. Costs amounted to £1. Conver y had been dfiving from soufh to north along Oxford Stfeet and, on attempting ;to pull out from behind a car he had" been following., had struck a car coming in the opposite direction, said .Sergeant Grainger. '• A youth aged 17 years, Donald iJames Curtis, of Levin, was charged with faihng to signal his inten- : tion to turn to tne right while rid'ing a bicycle.. Constable A. T. Kelk said that he 'had interviewed defendant on the day after the incident oecurred, February 1. He had stated that he had been riding west along Beach Road, Levin, and as he approached the intersection of Mable- Street and Beach Road, had looked round to see if anything was coming. At that instant, he said, he had been hit by a motorcycle. "I did not signal my intention to turn right," said Curtis in his statement. He was convicted and fined 10s. Costs were 10s. Arising out of this case, William Donald Harper, Levin, was charged with h&ving no warraht of fitness for his motor-cycle. Sergeant Grainger said that he was the other person concerned in the accident. Apparently Harper had taken delivery of the machine only a short while before, -and had not • received the warrant from the dealers. He had since obtained the warrant. Mr. Goulding convicted Harper and ordered him to pay costs, 10s. Two persons were charged with having defective brakes on their motor vehicles. Harry Feigler, of Levin, was convicted and fined. 30s, with 12s costs. Kenneth George Bishop, of Shannon, was convicted and fined' 10s, with 12s costs. The $fosecution was conducted by Traffie Inspector R. Mason. Patrick Shields, of Te Horo, appeared on a charge of being in possession of liquor in the vicinity of a dance hall at Manakau. He was convicted and fined* £3. Costs were 12s.
