Shops in Shannon will no longer close for the lunch' hour. Adopted as a war measure, the practice was continued because of staff shortages in many of the business houses. Over- the past few years the Women's Division of Federated Farmers has done much to encourage local business houses to remain 0:pen between 12.30 and 1.30 pan. as a service to the farming community . Now. its efforts have been rewarded by the recent move T>h the part bf shopkeepers in deciding to remain open over the lunch period.
