A 'request was received from the Wellington district council of the N.Z. Student Christian Movement for support in connection with "Helen Lowry Hall," a residence for women students of Victoria University College which is being opened in March next. A gift of £1500 has made possible the taking over and re-designing of the building, and it is believed that the Student Christian Movement, with over 50 years' experience of work among university students, will be ahe to turn a mere furnished building into the home of a true community. A capital sum is needed to offset the nominal rent and to guard against future liabiiities. The board discussed the matter fully and a committee consisting of Messrs. N. Tnornley, G. H. Sorenson and A. Walker was appointed to go into ways and mean,s of assisting and then report back to the board. The second Junior Chamber ball will be he'd on Friday, July 15, subject to the hall being available, and a popular professional band is being engaged for the occasion. Group convenors were then appointed as follows: — Civic affairs, Messrs. W. G. PhiFips and S. Foster; publicity, Messrs. T. A. Kerslake and R. Kenny; public speaking, Messrs. J. W. Lynch and A.
