Southland Has Had Good Dairy Season
INVERCARGILL, March 9. Southland dairy farmers are experiencing one of the best seasons for oxany years. Remarkable increases were recorded in butterfat production at the beginning of the season. Oue group of seven factories had an overall increase of 104 per cent. for Septem-. ber and although, as expected, such increases have not been maintained, the Lmprovement over ' the figures for the same period last year is considerable. Ofiieial figures to the end of December, taking in the first five months of the season, show an increase for Southland of 20.84 per cent. compared with the Dominion increase of 5i31 per cent. Since December there has been a slight decline from the seasonal peak but the production level is more than encouraging. in the opinion of experienced dairymen.
