Competition To Brighten Up Shannon
Encouraged by the interest and splendid results achieved from a competition arranged by a local business concern last year, a -resident is conducting- a further competition on somewhat similar lines. A prize of 10s 6d will be awarded to the person residing in Shannon borough who. has .the^riicist attractive house jqf section? street frontage, and another pi'ize of 10s 6d to the person who has /the tidiest and neatest house or sectiO'h sf reet frontage. ........... ... Every borough resident is considefed as entered in tjie competition and judges will note progress up to May 31, when the awards. will be; made. In the case'. of " a house situated on a corner section, both: frontages will be considered as one. The judging will coincide with the weekend Wheii' celebrations in connection with: the- 60th anniversary of the opehmg 'of thd Shannon. School , and ,the fiftieth. anniversary of /the formlng 'of the Shannon; Football eiub will be1 held; Already requests for accommodation have come in -from far and wide point-' lng to a large influx of visitors. This is an opportunity for residents to show visitors what a progressive and attractive place Shannon has Ibecome.
