Athletic Club Prepares For Rugby Season

Rippin, was in the chair. The club's activities, both on and off the "field, had proved successful, said Mr. Rippin in the cbiirse of hiS review 6f last Seasori. The r£cord of games was: — Sehiof : Playfed 14, won 7, drawn 3, lost 4. Juniofs: Played 17, won 14, lost. 3, winning the junior championship, RoWland Cup and Renkin Memorial Shield. Third grade.: Played 15, won 6, drawn. 2", loSt 7, \Vbh 3 by default. , Several players had gained representative honours, coritiritied Mir. Rippin. They were: — Senxor; J. Granger, R: Stevens, A. F£tch£r, R. Denton, I. Bond, R. Smith, G. Sciascia, G. Hudson and W. Galloway. Junior: R. Desgrand, R. Judd and B. Lind. Thirds: C. Wilson, P. Morgan, B. McLerinan, R. Jacob, P. Fletcher and R. Bignall. Trophies had been presented arid won as foUows: — Charlie Beatty Memorial Shield, G. Sciascia; Mrs. W. Wilson's, A. Fletcher; GVir. L. Spicer's, R. Desgrand; Mr. A. Galpin's, B. McLennari; Mr. W. Cribb's, L. McMinn; Mr. D. Mercer's, R. Bignall; Mr. F. Birley's, C. Gwynn; Ian Marks', W. Galloway; Ian Marks', R. Sftiith. The so.cial committee had given outstanding service to the club, said Mr. Rippin. The social had been very popular, while visidng teams had been entertaine'd and presentations made to members married duEing the , sfeason. The field day was agdin hfeld at Mr. L. Palmer 's property; the Carl Larsen Challehgfe Cup arid Woolle t and Sons' Cup were won by G. Hudsori. The Married v. Singie game for the Rippin Cup had been won by the Singie team. Officers Elected The officers elected for the ensuing year were: — Patron: Mr.l J. Frew, Senr.; president: Mr. H. Rippin; vice-presidents: Messrs. C. Wilkinson, R. Galloway, P. Walton, A. V. Morgan, J. Greatbatch, J. D. Renkin and W. Anderson; club captain: Mr. D, Mercer; depuly captain: Mr. P. Walton; secretary: Mr. A. French; h6n. treasurer: Mr. J. Corbishley; general committee: Messrs. J. Greatbatch, P. O'Donnell, L. Spicer, A. Galpin and D. Collier; hon. auditor: Mr. G. H. Sorenson; nomihee for H.R.U.i management committee: Mr. J.1 Granger; represeritatives for H.R.U. annual meeting: Messrs. P. O'Donnell, H. Rippin, K. DeCastro and R. Denton; gear eustodian: Mr. L. Spicer. The following were apfcointed &s social committee:, Messrs, F. Goldstone/ I. D'oyle, P. Ryan and G. Fraser. The team coaches elected were: Messrs, P. O'Donnell (seniors) , R. Galloway (juniors) and A. Batenian (thirds). General Matters The subscriptions were, fixed at the same amounts as last year, seniors 10s, juniors 10's and thirds 2s 6d. A committee Consisting Of Messrs. A. V. Mofgan, W. Anderson, H. Rippin, J. Irving and J. Granger was set up to make representations to the Levin BOr'ough Council for the lease of a quarter acre section at Playford Park with a view to erecting a gymnasium for club members. Appreciation was recorded of the work of Mr. G. Sciascia in forming and eoaching the midget teaihs which played during half-time at games last Season. A donation of £5 to the Levin St. John Ambulance Division, in recognition of its services during. the past season, was decided on. It was resolved that practices for the coming season commence on the last Sunday in March at Rugby' Park.
