Personal ' A former residient of Shannon, and one who was' well-known and respected throughout this district, Mr. Arthur Thomas Birchall, passed away at the home " of his daughter, Mrs. A. E. Clausen, Palmerston North, on- Saturday. The late gentleman is survived by his wife, f our sons and jtwo daughters. The late Mr. Burchall and his family were always willing workers in the interests of Shannon during their residence in this town. Variety Carnival Show Perhaps one of the most outstanding attractions to be presented to the people of the district during the war memorial carnival period will be the variety show by a concert party from Palmerston North, which will appear hi the Druids5 Hall on March 15. This is not "just another concert," but a real flesh and blood variety show. The Town Queen Committee has been very fortunate in obtaining the assistance of this party to swell its funds.
