Dash Of 200 Miles To Reach Hospital
T DUNEDIN, March 7. A 200-mile dasn by car "and launch ended at one o'clock this morning for Mr. Iven Myers, deputy manager of the Fiordland expedition's Stillwater camp, wlien he entered the Gore Hospital with un injured hand. Mr. Myers slipped on ihe roclty track when he was out on a sortie after wapiti on Saturday and injured his hand and wrist badly. He was given attention by the camp medieal orderly, Sergeant Farrell of the Army, and a radio call was put out froui the camp to the launch Alert lying at Milford Sound. The Alert put to sea within a short time for Casweli Sound where Mr. Myers was taken aboard and then a fast night run was made to Milford Sound. From the Sound the patient was taken by truck tlu-ough the tunnel to Homer camp where a car was vvaiting for him and so to Gore and hospital. An offer was made over the radio by the Queenstown pilot, Mr. F. J. Lucas," to fly Mr. Myers out from Te Anau but the weather in the area was bad yesterday with low cloud and driving rain. Mr. Myers' condition was reported today to be satisfactory.
