Takahe To Be Shown To The People
INVERCARGILL, .March 3. Tt is the intention of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, to haye speeimens of the takahe brought out and placed in some locality where they cau be seen by the people of New Zealand. Mr. Parry said this would be done as soon as they had the opportunity oi making a closer study of the habits oi the takahe. The general public was greatly inter ested in the native Birds of the country and it was only right that they should be given the opportunity to see Ihem. What he -had in mind was to keep some takahe in captivity just as they were doing with lciwis at Napier. Mr. Parry said that experiment had proved inost suecessful. Already this year 70f)0 people had visited the Napier game farm to see the kiwis. That illustrated just how interested the people of ihe country were in the native birds. Last night Mr. Parry attended the screening of a coloured film "Rediseoverv of the Takahe," made by Dr. Orbell.
