Pleasing Results From Petroleum Bore
NEW PLYMOUTI1, March 3. Increasing the production rate by half, 30 barrels of oil were pumped today from the new bore at Moturoa, New Plymouth, owned by New Zealanu Gil Relineries Ltd., reported the com pa nv nianaging-director, Mr. E. .] Doiison, tonight. On the previous day, the first day of production, the yield was 20 barrels. A barrel is 40 gallons so that tlie first two days have brought up about 2400 gallons. Eight hours have been w orked each day. Formerly working only two days a week, the eompaiiy 's ' relinery, said Mr. Dobson, was now working at its full capacity of 1000 gallons a day and was unable to rope with all the petroleum now available. Although tlie new bore was pro ducing more than four times as mueu as the company's other three bores com liiried, Mr. Dobson emphasised that its ultimate rate of flow would not btKnown until the second month.
