Library Request Service
In addition to the service which the Shannon library is now offering since it adopted the National Library Service system, the special request s'ervice is now in operation. This service enables the public -to obtain books not in the. stock of the library. All that is necessary is for the member to make kpown their requirements to the librarian, and she will arrange to have the book sent from the National Library Service. Almost any nonfiction book and information . ,on any subject can be obtained in I this manner. The subscriber only has to pay the return postage on the books borrowed. This charge amounts to 3d per book. Another service is offered to visitors to Shannon and people who are unlikely to be residents longer than four months. They may take books on payment of 3d each. The oniy formality sUch borrowers must go through is to fill in a registration form and give their home address, as well as their address while in Shannon. Visitors and temporary residents pay a deposit of 7s 6d, or have their registration form endorsed by a borough resident.
