Higgie from people outside the borough will bring a collector .in a hurry. False Fire Alarms At a meeting of the Shannon Borough Council on Tuesday evening, Cr. C. G. Wishart asked the permission of the council, on behalf of the Shannon Volunteer Fire Brigade, to erect a notice on the fire station warning the public that persons • br eaking the glass of the alarm release fUnd bausing false fire alarms- would be prosecuted. The council agreed that this should be done and the necessary permission was granted. Many library Subscribers In his report to the Shannon Borough Council last Tuesday evening, the acting-chairman of the library committee, Cr. Rf S. Downes, stated that the total number of subscribers to the library was 191, which included 150 within the borough and 34 country subscribers. Cr. Downes went on to say that the financial position was very good, and that during the winter months there should be a big increase of both borough and country subscribers. He mentioned that as much of the revenue came from the rental section, ~TTe "was of the opinion that more books of fiction should be purchased as finance permitted.
