British Communists State Their Policy
Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LOXDON, March 1. The Britisli Communist Party has decided to oppose at least six Mimsters whom they regard as being chieiiv res]>onsible for those elements of Labour poiicy with which the Conimunists disagree. They liave ali'eady decided to oppose ;Mr. Attlee, Bir Stafford Cripps Mr. Krnest Bev-in, AI r. Morrison., Mr Alexander and Mr. Hector McNeil. Mr. Harry Pollitt, general seeretary of the British Communist Party, will again contest liast Rhondda where he was defeated by oniy 972 votes at the last general election. The Conimnnists will base their election prograinme 011 the following points: — Increased wages, increased taxation of the rieh, drastic reductions in profits, the reopening of trade neg'Otiations with Russia, the building of 400,000 house.s annually and an extension of'tlie social services. The party 's poiicy statement, issuefi after a meeting at the weekend, attack« " Anglo-Ainerican imperialists77 and "the North Atlantic war pact.,; Lt calls on the Government to end what it describes as ihe " anti-(1ommnnist witch linnt," in the civil service and calls upon British trades unions to repmliate the Trades Union Gongress ac ti on in withdrawing its representatives from the World Federation of Trade?t'nions.
