Death Of Leading Architect

WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. The death occurred in Wellington this morning of Mr. Cyril Hawthorn Mitcheil, for many years a leading architect in New Zealand and designer of many well-known ouildings. Born in .Wellington in 1891, Mr. MitchelTwas educated at Wellington Colfege and began his professional career in Wellington in 1909 with the firm of Atkins and Bacon. Mr. Mitchel was taken into part.nership in 1919, the firm then being known as Atkins and Mitchell, and about 1931 it became Mitchell and Mitchell when Mr. A. H. Mitchell, a brother, became his partner. The late Mr. Mitchell was responsible for the design of banking emises throughout New Zealanq for the Bank of Australasia and 'the National Bank pf New Zealand. He is survived by his wife and two children.
