Mr. J. L. Squires, who has been relieving as superintendent of the Colonial Mutual Life Society, at Palmerston North, has returned to Levin on a special appointment. The town clerk, Mr. H. L. Jen;kins, is at present orl his annual leave. Mr. R. Mcllraith is acting as town clerk in his absence. The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, accompanied by the town clerk, Mr. H. L. Jenkins, represented the Levin Borough Council at the conference of municipalities, which was held last wgek at Napier. Mr. Jenkins was also in attendance at the conference of the Institute of ■Town Clerks, also held at Napier. i Reference to the approaching marriage of Mr. R. Mcllraith, [ assistant town clerk, was 'made at | Mqnday night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council by the I Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin. The .council, in wishing Mr. "Mcllraith and his fiancee every happiness for |the future, granted him an extra ' week's leave' on full pay.
