Pretty Shannon Wedding
WOOLLETT— -ALLEN " A pretty wedding was solemnised recently at Ven. Bede's Anglican Church, Shannon, when Phyllis Annie Pearl, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Allen, was married to Archibald Stewart (Mick), only son of Mrs. Woollett and the late W. Woollett, of Roslyn Road, Levin. The Rev. M. J. S. Wheeler' was the officiating minister. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a beautiful frock of damask satin cut on classical lines, hand embroidered veil and coronet of orange blossom lent her by a friend. She carried a bouquet of roses, sweet peas, carnations, stock and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister Audrey (chief) and her niece, Zelma Humphrey, who were dressed alike in moss crepe, pale blue , shoulder veils and wreaths on their heads to tone with ^heir frocks. Their bouquets were df cyclamen, carnations, stock and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom's gifts to the maids were' a paua shell necklace and brooch. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Charlie Trirh, of -Levin, as best man and Mr. Ernest Allen, brother of the bride, as ,groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with two horseshoes by her niece and nephew, Hazel Algie and Leslie Smith. The ushers at the church were Mr. L. J. Bowler and Mr. Tom Walker, The church was beautifully decorated by Miss Audrey Allen and Mrs. C. Parr, all to tone with her frocks. A reception was afterwards held in the Parish Hall, where Mr. and Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Woollett received the guests. Mrs. Allen wore a floral silk frock, black coat and hat to match ,with black accessories and a floral shoulder spray. Mrs. Woollett was in blue, with a black coat and hat to match, black accessories and a floral shoulder spray. Mr. Wheeler was a very able tofistmastef , and the J usual toasts were honoured. The beautiful three-tiered eake was made'by the bride's mother, and iced by Mr. A. C. Kennerley, of Levin. Mr. and Mrs. Woollett have taken, up their resi'dence in Levin. The bride's going away frock was of navy blue with white tonings, and a navy, coat and hat and navy accessories to match. The honeymoon is to be spent in the North.
