Stepped Over Cliff in Darkness

NELSON, Eeb. 21. Two incn who alighted from a service car on the road between Takaka and the Cobb power station last night, stepped over the edge of the road in the darkness. Scrub 30 feet below stopped the fall of one mah but the other fell into the river 200 feet below and was killed. The victim of the accident was: JACK LONGIIURST, aged about 55 years, a Ministry of Works cmployee engaged on the construetion of the Cobb dam. The other nian, who was rescued suffering only a few abrasions, was Peter Robinson, Ministry of Works eniployee. Deceased's next-of-kin rcside at Karori, Wellington. The body of Longhurst was reco'vered tliis morning from the Takaka Kiver about 50 yards downstream from' whcre "the accident happened. 4)
