George VI is our king, the Union Jack is our flag, and all the resources of the province will always be unreservedly available -to the British Commonwealth of Nations." Another Poljlceman For Levin? An indication that if accommodation was secured another policeman would be sent to the Levin station, was made by the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, at last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council. He said that in a recent conversation 'with the Commissioner of Police, Mr. D. J. Cummings, he ha'd made a strong recommendation for an increase in the Levin force, said Mr. Burdekin. The commissi'oner had pointed to the difficulties of seburing houses in Levin, but had promised that if one was found the forde would be increased. Bicycles On FoOtpaths The question of bicycles being left on the footpaths in Oxford Street, instead of in the racks constructe'd for fch'em, w'as raised at last night's meeting of the Levin BOrdugh Council, when the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, suggested that it was time steps were taken to put an end to the ptactice. He said, however, that he had dis'cusfeed the matter with the Sergeant of police, who had said that the council should first ensure that bicycles left in the racks would be safe there as, with the absence of no parking zone markings around the stands, gars were inelined to en- 1 croach oh the racks. The works committee, it Was decided, would go j further into this matter. E. Larsen, in his montlily report to the Levin Borough Co'uncil last night. January had been a good month, however. Mr. Larsen submitted the fdllowing figures for the January killings, thdSe for the same month of last year being given in parentheses: — Cattle 845 (651), sheep and lambs 5702 (4932)-, p'igs 745 (690), calves 26 (15).
