R.S.A. To Support Hall Carnival
• Speaking at ,a meeting o-f the Shannon bran'ch of the Returned Services' Association last Saturday evening, Mr. R. S. Downes advise'd members that the carniv.al to be ;held to raise funds for the proposed Shannon War Memorial Hall, was to begin on Monday, February 28 and he asked for the support of all R.S.A. members in making the I carnival a success. Mr. H. D. Aitchison and Mr. P. J. Cole also spoke in support of the project and sug,g6sted means of - organising the |,R.S.A.'s help in that direction. I Mr. Downes suggeSted that perhaps displays could be arranged to recall memories of the war and sojarouse not only the interest of the district's population but also that 'of travellers passing through the town. Mr. Aitchison also made the suggestion that the R.S.A. .. suggest to the carnival committee that if a gala day is to be arranged early in the carnival, some display of military equipment could be arranged in the procession. Following considerable discussion it was resolve'd that the executive committee go into ways and means of combining to assist the War .Memorial Committee in making the 1 appeal for funds to erect the hall a success.
