Round of Functions For N.Z. Cricket Team
WELLINGTON, Eeb., 17. The New Zealand cricket team which leaves Wellington on February 26 for its English tour, is expected to see the coneluding day's play of the OldlieldKippax benefit match in Sydney, whieh will mark the final appearance in first class cricket of Sir Donald Bradman. If the opportunity offers the manager, Mr. J. H. Phillipps (Wellington), will eonvey a tribute to this great crieketing personality oii behalf of New Zealand. Interest which is believed to be greater than in any previous touring cricket team, is being taken 1 in the pending departure of the side in the Dominion Monarch. The team will assemble in Wellington on Friday, February 25, when a big round of official functions will take place. At/ 11 a:m, a State farewell will be given in Pafi Jiament Buildings. The early part 0f the afternoon will be occupied with photographs and a meeting with the president, Sir Arthur Doimelly, and officials of the New Zealand Cricket Council. At 4 p.m. the team will be the guests of the Governor-General at Government House. At 5.30 p.m. Sir Arthur Donnelly will extend a farewell on behalf of the New Zealand Cricket Council- at the Hotel. Waterloo. Before embarking on Saturday morning, the players will be the guests of Sir Patrick Duff, United Kingdom High Commissioner, at his residence. The Dominion Monarch is expected to sail shortly after middayj February 26,
