Vandals Damage insulators: Power Board Concerned

; The Horowhenua Electric Power Board is seriously cdncerned at the nuniber of- insulators which are beirig damaged by vandals iii the district. The board's engineer, Mr. J. F. Bryce, reported to the board yesterday that insulator breakiiig had become prevalent in some lbcalities. Along one road a large nurtiber of low tension insulators, had been completely shattered artd on another a high tension insulator hadt been damaged with the result that the cross arm had been burnt off.\ The ddmage was apparetttly do'ne by stones or rifle's. The areas where the incidents occurred with such alarming frequency were Convent Road, Otaki and Hokio Beach Road, Levin. Serious power failure is liable to result by such damage.to insulators. If they become cracked, it is'dften not noticed and - only when wet weather short- circuits the lineisit discovered. The board decided to take action in the matter, offering a reward for anyone givihg inf ormation leading to the prosecution of offenders, meanwhile pointing dut the danger and inconvenience caused through such stupid and wilful damage.
