Heartburnings Over Ulster Election Results
Received Monday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 14. All leave has been cancelled i'or the Royal Ulster Constabulary as the result of incidents ajong the border of Northern Ireland and Iiire. Sir Basil Brooke, Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, today termed as untrue; allegations by the London office of the Eire High Compiissioner, thai the Northern Ireland election "was so defective from the beginning that uo other result was possible." Sir Basil said the recorded number of votes cast showed that those who wished to express views on the issue of King versus Republie, were free to do so. The Eire High Commissioner 's office. alleged that elaborate devices were used to prevent the opposition from polling full strength and that eonstitu-, encies were gerrymandered. The organiser of the Northern Ireland Labour Party, Mr. A. A. Johnson, Gilleged that the election was "tlu: big- ' gest political trick ever perpet rated. ' He would submit a report to the British Labour Party.
