Eyes of World on Jewish Constituent Assembly

Received Tuesday, 10.5 a.m. JERUSALEM, Feb. 14. Israel had offered the _ hand of friendship to all peace-loving countries, said the Israeli President, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, at the opening of the first Jewisn . Constituent Assembly — the first elected Israeli body for 2000 years — in Jerusalem. He reminded the Assembly of 120 representatives that the "whole world is watching us now to see what we shall choose for ourselves in ordering our lives and in what share we shall fashion . our. state." Dr. Weizmann said that the aim of the new State had been to gather exiles from all parts of the world. "We shall make this our goal before all else," he said.
