Milk Surplus
Auckland consumes 36,500 gallons of milk daily but/through wet conditions, there * is still a daily surplus of 17,500 gallons. This was disclosed at a meeting of the Auckland^Metropolitan Milk Board. It was reported that the surplus was expected to decrease fairly rapidly from now on. Surplus milk goes to make bptter and cheese. ' Land For Flax R.esearph At a meeting of the Horowhenua County Couneil yesterday' an Order-in-Council, gazetted on December 23, taking by proclamation 420 acres of land at Tokomaru, at present occupied by New Zealand Woolpacks, was received from the Com^ missioner of Works, Mr. E. R. McKillop. The land, which is situated just north of the Makerua Railway Station, and is bounded by the Tokomaru Stream, will be used for research and developmental work in the flaxmilling" industry. The gazette was received without com-men-t.
